A tab operations dashboard

One place to see, act, and recover

SignalTabs replaces the unreadable tab strip with a daily control surface built around three jobs.

01

See everything

Open one new tab to scan tabs from every Chrome window, grouped by site instead of squeezed into tiny favicons.

02

Act without hunting

Surface the tab making noise, mute it in place, or gather every other window into the one you are using.

03

Clean with a way back

Close duplicates, site groups, or all open tabs after they are recorded in your local Archive.

Everyday operations

Handle the tab problem in front of you

Use the Dashboard as the starting point, then take the smallest action that gets your browser back under control.

When a mystery tab starts playing

Find the sound. Mute it here.

Audio tabs rise to the top across all windows. Jump to one, mute it in place, or silence every currently playing tab.

When tabs are scattered across windows

Gather every window into the current one.

Move tabs from other Chrome windows into the current one while preserving pinned tabs and native groups when permission is granted.

When clutter is easier to keep than risk losing

Clear in batches. Keep the way back.

Keep one copy of duplicates, close a site group, or clear all Open Tabs. SignalTabs records closed URLs locally before the tabs disappear.

Reversible cleanup

Close now without making the page disappear forever

SignalTabs makes cleanup a visible sequence instead of a blind delete.

  1. 1 See Every window in one Dashboard
  2. 2 Spot Duplicates and low-value entry pages
  3. 3 Clear One tab, a group, or Open Tabs
  4. 4 Archive Closed URLs recorded locally
  5. 5 Find Search tabs, saved, bookmarks, and history
  6. 6 Restore Reopen during your retention window

SignalTabs restores the page URL, not unsaved form input, scroll position, or in-page state.

The retrieval layer

If you can find it again, you do not have to keep it open

Press ⌘⇧K from any page to search open tabs, Saved for later, local Archive, recent Chrome sessions, bookmarks, and history.

Your browsing context stays in your browser

SignalTabs is 100% local-first. No account, no server, no tab data uploaded anywhere. Everything is stored in Chrome's extension storage — and stays there.

FAQ

Common questions

Does SignalTabs upload my tabs or browsing data?

No. SignalTabs does not upload your tab list, saved items, history, or page content to any external server. All data stays in Chrome's extension storage.

Is it really free?

Yes. All core features — tab grouping, duplicate cleanup, save for later, archive, search, and cross-device sync — are free. No catch, no trial period.

How does cross-device sync work?

SignalTabs syncs saved items through your Chrome account using chrome.storage.sync. No separate account or server needed — just sign into Chrome on each device.

What happens when I close a tab?

Closed tabs go to Archive, where they stay recoverable for a retention window you control in settings. You can restore anything you closed by mistake.

Can I use it with multiple Chrome windows?

Yes. SignalTabs shows tabs from all open Chrome windows, lets you jump across them, and can gather tabs from other windows into the current one.

What permissions does it need?

SignalTabs requires permissions to read open tabs, store local state, support restore flows, and power search. See our permissions audit for a detailed breakdown.

Open a new tab. Take back control.

Install SignalTabs and turn every new tab into a local operations dashboard for your browser.
